How Was the Data Gathered?
Bandon Dental utilised Google Trends data to analyse search interest levels across Ireland for 14 key beauty-related terms over a five-year period (2020-2025). The terms, including Botox, lip fillers, micro needling, laser skin treatments and teeth whitening, were selected to give an overview of growing beauty trends in Ireland.
Each town and city received a search interest score, with a maximum possible total of 1,400 (100 points per search term). The final rankings were determined by summing the scores across all 14 beauty-related searches, providing a quantitative measure of each location’s relative engagement with aesthetic treatments. Google Trends normalises search interest based on regional search volume, ensuring that smaller towns were not at a disadvantage compared to larger cities.
The Commuter Belt & Beautification
While Dublin, Cork, and Limerick were expected to rank highly, the study does reveal some more slightly interesting trends. Lucan’s dominance over Dublin City suggests that suburban and commuter-heavy areas may be even more engaged in beauty trends than city centres. Likewise, Drogheda (802) and Navan (699) ranked higher than Galway (302) for example.
Paul Melody, Owner at Bandon Dental commented "Lucan’s top ranking is a fascinating insight into just how aesthetic trends are evolving in Ireland. We see it in our own practice here in Bandon, we're about 30km from Cork City but we do get quite a few clients from that direction. Suburban areas are emerging as key players in beauty culture, mainly driven by accessibility, an increase in disposable income and social media influence definitely plays a part too."
The Urban V Rural Divide
The study also revealed a clear urban-rural divide in beauty-related interest and it appears that if you're living in the South West of the Country, you probably have a more relaxed view on your overall aesthetics....
Towns like Ranafast (77), Tramore (72), Mallow (62), Dungarvan (64) and Caragagh (65) ranked among the lowest, suggesting that factors such as access to aesthetic clinics and perhaps even disposable income may influence beauty-related searches, which would be in line with the latest CSO Figures, which indicated that the disposable income of an individual based in the Dublin area was around 14% higher than the national average.
